This drama series consists of ten episodes of one hour duration. The theme of the series is about the hurricane which took place in New Orleans and nearby places in 2005 and its outcome which affected badly the people residing there. ‘Treme’ is place close to New Orleans. The inhabitants of this area are ordinary New Orleans, Mardi Gras Indians, musicians and chefs. In the TV series, the directors have clearly and purposefully tried their best to expose the struggle of people at Treme to rebuild their lives, culture and homes after the devastative Katrina hurricane. The series make the viewers to stand on their toes till the end of the program. This indicates how much exciting the series are.
The directors and producers could complete the shooting of the ten episodes on time and enabled them to launch the series on April 11th 2010 as proposed earlier. The introduction of the first episode was with a pilot episode having duration of eighty minutes. On account of the warm welcome and great approval from the people it is announced that HBO has renewed the show for a second secession also. The Directors have succeeded in keeping the viewers in an exciting mood until the whole series are viewed. Their experience and vast knowledge in this field are the key factors behind the successful completion of such a wonderful series. One of the Directors Over Meyer has got some experience by staying partly in New Orleans. Director Simon believed that his experience has too much helped everybody, at the time of shooting the stories of the New Orleans city. Both of them have done a great job in exploring the culture of New Orleans to a great deal. To highlight their culture they have included music scenes, the housing controversies between the public, the dispute between police and Mardi Gras Indians, the criminal justice system prevailing and their competitive nature for developing the tourism industry. All these matters they have screened very naturally as the after effect of the Katrina hurricane.
Before finalizing the project, Simon had made brief discussions with New Orleans musicians Donald Harrison Jr., Davis Rogan and Kermit Ruffins to grasp the musical culture of New Orleans people perfectly. Moreover, he has interviewed the local chef Susan Spicer to provide a faultless cultural background of chef people in that locality. But the directors never wanted to hurt the culture and political feeling of the people living there. New Orleans is a former French Quarter and the ordinary people of that country are very much interested to associate culture and politics in their daily life. The Hurricane which broke out in 2005 led to the death of many people in New Orleans. It had created too much loses to property also. The post Hurricane rebuilding and renovation is not over yet. But, this series ‘Treme’ has done a very good job in giving a picture about the reconstruction process going on in New Orleans. This may be helpful in creating positive responses from the people of US.
